Foundation Learning students with birthday cards

This programme is suitable for adults aged 19+ who:

  • Have additional learning needs
  • Require extra support in education
  • Want to develop essential life and work skills
  • Need support with communication, teamwork or timekeeping
  • Are working towards greater independence and self-confidence

We work closely with families, carers and referral partners to ensure the right support is in place.

The course aims to:

• Develop learners’ personal, social and communication skills
• Build employability skills such as teamwork, timekeeping and problem-solving
• Help learners identify their strengths, interests and career aspirations
• Introduce workplace routines and expectations
• Prepare learners for progression into employment, volunteering or supported employment

 

No formal entry requirements.

Learners may also take part in:

• Workplace visits and employer talks
• Life skills workshops (budgeting, cooking, travel training, managing appointments)
• Volunteering projects • Creative arts and wellbeing sessions • Enterprise and fundraising activities

These experiences help learners apply their skills in real-life situations, and we support them at every stage.

 

Assessment is through practical activities and portfolio work, supported by tutors, Learning Support Assistants and work placement officers

This programme supports progression into:

  • Work placements
  • Volunteering roles
  • Supported employment
  • Further personal development programmes
  • Community-based learning opportunities
  • Entry-level vocational pathways

Our team works closely with learners, families and referral agencies to plan positive next steps.
